Today as I was leaving a speaking engagement to an interior designer association, I was pulling a cart that was filled with training materials. As I pulled the cart out the door a sudden gust of wind slammed it against my cart causing my training materials to spill onto the ground. I felt more embarrassed than anything else.
As my minor mishap took place a passerby stopped what she was doing and helped me to put everything back into my cart. Very nice I had thought and felt very blessed to have the assistance. When she finished helping me, she said, “well I hope that your day goes better.” Interesting as I actually was having a great day even though I had spilled some papers onto the floor.
The lesson here – The act of kindness was greatly appreciated. However, imagine if I had allowed her impact my day negatively. I could have thought something like, why do things like this always happen to me? Or my luck is always bad. See my situation is so bad that even that this lady even feels bad for me. Rather I had a positive mindset and took the situation for what it was.
Things happen and I was fortunate to have someone take time out of their day to help me. Every action we do throughout our day can impacts it one way or the other. The good news is that you always have the choice. You can choose if you are going to make it a good one or not. I would like to kindly suggest making every situation the best it can be.
