The other day, I noticed that a plant in my office had lots of dead leaves on it. The plant looked as though it was quickly headed for the trash bin. So I decided to trim the dead leaves from it and give what was left water and some extra sun – attention. Now a few days later my office plant has bounced back to life.
Then it hit me. Cutting away the dead leaves is a lot like firing bad clients and focusing on what is left. Now firing a client is only recommended if they are taking valuable resources away from you such as time and money. However by removing the dead leaves from your business it can grow into a healthy plant.
Lesson Here – Be willing to look at your business in the same manner as a garden. At times you have to be willing to cut off the bad leaves by firing clients and ending the chase with prospects who are simply wasting your time. When you tend to your business correctly then it can grow.
