Have you noticed how that the weather is changing? The days are starting to get shorter and the breeze is getting a bit cooler. And those who live in places where the trees change colors – I happen to live in Florida and miss the burst of leaves changing colors unless I travel. The good news is that I just let the sunshine in year round. None-the-less getting a break from the heat is still a nice change.
It is also a nice change to see my clients change – and “get it”. Recently, a client outlined how a few short months ago she was unwilling to change her ways. Yet oddly enough she was in my office seeking answers – a way for things to change. Basically everything was her business’ fault or her clients for her stress. Everyone else needed to change but her.
Then the answer that shocked her – Nothing much will change unless you are willing to change. After all change comes in all forms and the most obvious is that nature changes with the season. And yes even in sunny Florida.
As a child, I recall one year a tree in my yard up north that seemly resisted nature by somehow keeping all of its leaves. When winter arrived, the snow weighed heavy on the tree and many branches broke from the blankets of ice. The tree suffered.
By recognizing that she had control of and therefore began allowing change to occur in her life… well then she regained control of her situation. When she blamed everything else this became overwhelming and actually removed control from within. Just like the snow weighed heavy on the fragile limbs of that little tree. For this client for real change to occur it had to start with her. She had the courage to understand her nature and changed.
Lesson Here: If something works keep it. When something creates more challenge then dump it. When you stop and realize that for change to occur in your life or business it is under your control, then you have the laws of nature in business on your side.
